MDW through Murrrindindi Shire and with the support of Forest Fire Victoria, created four mountain bike trail maps to illustrate the great MTB terrain on offer in the Murrrindindi Shire.
Basic contour maps overlayed with plot data provided by local riders served as the base for each map. Files were then layered before adding hill shading, coloured trails and directional markings.
The contour maps were then incorporated into trail head signage. Each sign included topographical information, individual trail data with elevation profiles, difficulty ratings, easy reference trail colour coding, seamless trail iconography and a QR code for quick scanning and downloading as a pocket map… easy!
A side project running in parallel was on trail signage. Directional panels and colour coded trail icons were developed for easy fabrication and installation throughout the trails. The on trail signage was kept as simple as possible for easy recognition on the move.
